Pet Ultrasound

A non-invasive way to diagnose sick & injured pets.

Ultrasonography is another important diagnostic tool that can be used in conjunction with digital X-Rays to further evaluate deeper internal structures such as, the bladder, reproductive organs, liver, kidneys, spleen, intestines, pancreas, heart, and lung tissue. Our doctors can use the in-house ultrasound machine to also evaluate for fluid in the abdomen, around the heart, or in the chest cavity. Depending on the specific case, it may be recommended to have a thorough ultrasound evaluation performed by a board-certified radiologist or internal medicine specialist.

What conditions can be diagnosed by ultrasound?

Some injuries and conditions that can be identified via ultrasound include:

  • Bladder and kidney stones
  • Gastrointestinal obstructions
  • Pregnancy
  • Cysts and tumors
  • Heart conditions

Ultrasound also allows us to safely collect biopsy and fluid samples without having to perform invasive surgeries.

If your pet is showing signs of illness or injury, call us at (619) 795-2400 to schedule an appointment. An ultrasound may be able to assist in diagnosing the problem.
