Giovanna Dowell
Veterinarian
Dr. Giovanna Dowell was born and raised in San Diego. She graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology. She then moved across the country to attend The Ohio State University where she received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Dowell moved back to San Diego after graduating, thrilled to be near her family again. She worked as a veterinarian for a non-profit for a few years before transitioning to Amici. Dr. Dowell finds joy in taking time with her patients and their families to ensure they are heard and understood, and to allow for the best care possible for those who cannot advocate for themselves.
When not in the clinic, Dr. Dowell enjoys spending time with her family, especially her two sisters that she is very close to, and being active outdoors such as running, camping, hiking, and going to the beach.
Dr. Dowell feels so honored to serve the Little Italy Community, given her strong roots in the area as this is where her grandmother immigrated to from Sicily in the 1940’s. Dr. Dowell is excited to give back to this community which holds a special place in her heart.
